Stefan Drachmen grew up in the awe that was Camelot, the Pendragons, and the Knights of the Round Table. The boy had been orphaned at a young age, having only his older sister Alarice. Having been adopted by a duke, he and Alarice grew up in the lifestyle many of that time envied.

Alarice and he were inseparable until she fell under the spell of the witch Mordrid. His sister disappeared shortly after having found new parents. Stefan was put to studying and learning the ways of fighting. His adopted parents were proud of him. Reaching his twentith birthday, he was arranged to marry the daughter of the duke in a nearby kingdom.Her name was Persephone.

Upon setting eyes on each other, the young couple immediately fell in love with each other. The young lovers were inseparable. Shortly after the marriage, Stefan's adopted paretns died, and he was left with their lands.

Years passed without incident. Soon however, Persephone fell ill. Stefan never left her side. On her deathbed, she gave Stefan a gift.

An onyx cane. The handle was made of silver and fashioned into a raven. Rubies were the bird's eyes. As Stefan took the cane, he felt power within it.

Persephone then confessed she had been a magic user since she was a child. A natural power had been witnessed by her parents, but had been kept secret from everyone in fear that they would think she was a witch. Yet as she grew, she had been secretly using and improving those powers. Within the cane held all that a piece of her soul.

In his arms, Persephone died. Stefan left behind the lands in care of a dear friend.

As the years passed, Stefan noticed he had not aged. In his grief, he did not question it. At times, he believed that perhaps it was the cane that was keeping him young. His beloved had somehow found a way to stay young forever.

One night in a dream, Alarice approached him, and began to tell him of Syrius. She told him that she was involved with a dark beast, and now, because of the cane he carried, he too was involved now, but his role would not be revealed until a later time.

More years passed. During that time, he discovered a way to travel to other realms and planes. He established himself a new home, acquiring lands and the like. Becoming a powerful and respected man.

Then, he met Katreana Nissassa. By this time, Stefan was fulfilling the role Alarice had long ago spoken of. He married Katreana, and later was to be left behind by her due her finding out who he was.

Now, he watches. It is all he can do.
